Job Duties

Essential functions

  • Performs regular maintenance on aircraft.
  • Project Management; accurately estimates work time and materials for assigned tasks.
  • Fully analyzes all required blueprints, drawings, work orders and sketches to troubleshoot, repair and install desired product or part. Detects errors and corrects through proper departmental channels.
  • Ensures proper working condition of mechanical systems before flight.
  • Maintains records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and any reports related to parts or services.
  • Inspects and examines engines, wings, propellers, tails, and other parts to identify cracks, corrosion, or other defects. 
  • Inspects hoses and lubricates joints; replaces any that show signs of needing repair. 
  • Consults maintenance manuals and specifications to identify correct operations and specifications for replacements or repairs.
  • Installs new parts to replace or repair defective or recalled parts or to enhance the performance of the aircraft; performs these tasks efficiently and to specifications. 
  • Repairs sheet metal as needed.
  • Ensures proper function of engines and operating systems via a variety of tests and tools. 
  • Identifies and resolves mechanical problems based on visual inspections or reports from pilot or crew. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Airframe and Powerplant certification by the FAA required

Must have 7+ years of corporate aircraft experience, Primary aircraft: Citation CJ3, CJ3+, Citation Excel, Citation XLS, Citation Sovereign, Citation X, Challenger 350, Gulfstream GIV-SP. 

  • Extensive knowledge of all aircraft mechanical systems functions and interactions.
  • Thorough working knowledge of all current FAA regulations, IPM and ATA codes.
  • Prior MRO environment experience preferred  
  • Prior 135 operations experience.

    Airframe and Powerplant Aircraft Maintenance Technician Level 3 Requirements

    Expert on Aircraft Systems

  • Citation Jet's electrical systems – (example, know how to start the APU)
  • Citation Jet's hydraulic systems – (How many systems are on a Citation 10 (Answer is 2, all other citations have 1)
  • Citation Jet's avionics systems – (General knowledge, what Avi systems does the A/C have, use)
  • Knowledge of system components, controls, and operations

Workshop Practices

  • Proven knowledge of advanced tool usage and maintenance to include usage of rig boards (Flight Controls) and Engine Rigging
  • Proven experience in mentoring Tech 1 and 2’s and the ability to tech in a classroom environment, if necessary, along with filling in for a Lead Tech if needed.
  • Thorough and proven knowledge of proper documentation and work order procedures (prior experience with corridor is a plus)
  • Expert with tech data knowing the location and correct reference use / CMM (ask them what a CMM is and what is the purpose of a CMMs.)

 

Examples of Technical Data:

    • Aircraft Maintenance Manuals
    • Structural Repair Manuals
    • Component Maintenance Manuals
    • Service Bulletins (SB) and Airworthiness Directives (AD)

Examples of correct Reference Use:

  • Understanding CMMs - These components can include various parts such as avionics, engines, landing gear, hydraulics, and other systems.
  • Adherence to Manual Procedures
  • Troubleshooting Skills

Component Maintenance:

  • Know how to perform an Engine run and is taxi certified.
  • Knowledge of Control cable replacing
  • Engine rigging

Troubleshooting Basics:

  • Expert level troubleshooting techniques for complex system malfunctions.
  • Expert with diagnostic tools and equipment i.e. ohmmeter, megger

System Inspections:

  • Can perform functional checks.
  • Can perform routine inspections for different aircraft systems.
  • Expert level understanding on understanding inspection checklists, documentation, and reporting to include pre and post inspection items.

MOST IMPORTANT Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Understands and performs accurate documentation and record-keeping practices.
  • Maintains compliance with maintenance records, logbooks, and regulatory requirements.
  • Record Keeping (referencing the correct sections of technical manuals for traceability and future reference.)
  • Compliance with Regulations (They must be proficient in cross-referencing technical data to

meet regulatory requirements.)
